LIFE IS MY FOCUS: A NEW WAY OF SEEING
Photography is an art when taken beyond a "good" shot. The art is in what I do with my shot in post production. The pleasure is being able to manipulate images way beyond the original shot.
Christopher Isherwood once said, "I am a camera with its shutter open, quite passive, recording, not thinking. Recording the man shaving at the window opposite and the woman in the kimono washing her hair. Someday, all this will have to be developed, carefully printed, fixed". Photography is something like that for me. I see something, I feel something, I have a vision. I use my camera to fix that moment. I then edit to bring out the story and show people my original vision.
I work in many areas: People in their environments; Travel photography; Nature in all of its forms; Photojournalism and socially relevant issues; Architecture, Art and Still Life. It may be said that I don't have a single focus. My reply is that life is my focus. As Henry Miller said, "one's destination is never a place but a new way of seeing things".
